Each and every year to give back to our community we donate a designated group of puppies.
Something that is very close and dear to my heart is that my young son at 6 weeks was hospitalized with potential Meningitis. At the tender age of 1 he was again rushed to the hospital as he had Neisseria Mengingitidis type B. No thank you to Autoimmune Disease.
During this lengthy stay we were told he had a low chance of survival. Not only did he do better than any of his infectious disease team could have hoped for, he has rocked his recovery since. As suspected his brain and heart were injured, he has hearing loss and the infection came out through his ankle resulting in
Audiologists, Cardiologists, Neurology Team, Developmental Teams, Urologists, Orthopedic specialists and the list goes on.
He is a fighter and today to meet him you would almost not know any of his years of healing.
Service Dogs of Canada was closed to all applicants other than Autism and for years we were at a loss. Finally we made the decision to keep back one of our pups and to send her away from appropriate training.
For this reason we now know how valuable an emotional support, therapy dog, or Service dog can be.
